There was a study done a couple years back. It took place at a movie theatre where they gave each movie go-er either a medium or large bucket of popcorn... for free.
It was 1:00 pm. The majority had just finished eating lunch.
Unbeknownst to them the popcorn had been popped 5
days earlier and was stale as stale could be.
GROSS!
What do you think....Did they eat it?
THEY SURE DID!
(Upon tasting it, there were only 2 people in the entire
theatre who refused to eat & returned it.)
At the end of the movie they had to give their buckets back
where the popcorn was then weighed.
Who ate more?
The medium size or large size bucket eater?
THE LARGE SIZE bucket eater ate 53% more.
Case in point... you give them more, they'll eat more.
I figure those eaters had to have ignored the signals their bodies
were sending them from the get-go.
The popcorn was disgusting; but the cues all around them were prompting them to eat it.
The crunching & munching sounds of their neighbor, the smell of the freshly popped corn at the concessions stand, the tradition of popcorn eating during a movie and so forth were all cues that influenced the absent minded eater.
Beware & Be aware!
Be conscious!
Take Note!
You get the point. Just because it's there or because someone else it eating it...
DOES NOT GIVE YOUR BODY THE RIGHT!
I say... don't put it into your mouth unless you ABSOLUTELY enjoy it.
Every calorie counts!
EACH ONE!
So make them 'ones' you won't regret.
I'm not saying you can't have popcorn at the movie... but have a small portion and enjoy every morsel that is rightly yours by compensating for it earlier in the day.
NOT THE BUCKET-full!
